Double the Saving

When I was 7 months pregnant I went to the SPCA in Vernon, BC and fell in love with a troubled, unloved ferret named Affina. She was the scrawniest thing I had ever seen and she was mean to boot. She had been left in her cage with no love or attention and very little food for almost a year. The SPCA attendents weren't sure if they were going to be able to adopt her out because she kept biting everyone who put there hands in her cage. I took her home and we wore shoes for the first little while. I'd hold her for almost an hour every couple of hours to get her used to being held. She's become a loved member of our family.
A few weeeks back I got another call from the SPCA about another ferret that had found its way to their facility. I went into check on the ferret and once again I fell in love. Loki (didn't have a name when he came in and I thought this name was all too fitting for a ferret) was found under someones deck. He was exceptionally affectionate and gave me kisses the first time I held him.
Loki and Affina became best of friends right away and taking Loki home was the best decision I have ever made.
